SPD 510 Case Scenario Special Education and Related Services (GCU)
Introduction
The Individuals with Disability Act (IDEA) 2004 was developed and entailed that all children with disabilities are entitled to a free appropriate public education (FAPE). This means that no matter the child’s unique needs, the school provides a specifically designed program to meet the child’s needs at no cost to the family. In order to receive these services, a student must be approved for an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)(Rebhorn, 2007). This paper will follow Bryanna, an eight-year old girl, and her process through the 10 basic steps in education.
