There are various types of social stratification systems that exist around the world. Among them, they are based on types of governments, wealth, power, and/or status. Four main systems of stratification are slavery, caste, estate and class (Larkin, 2015). For each stratification system, they have different rules and boundaries that categorize them in different social mobility ranges. This involves the ability for individuals to either move up or down within their stratification system if possible based on flexibility.
